Professional Training for Empowerment of Oral Health Team

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the process of professional training for empowerment of oral health team in State of Parana, Brazil
Methods: It was conducted a 200-hour Oral Health Management Training Course, with 3 phases, from 2012 to 2017, with a total of around 750 participants from 184 municipalities. This course was focused on diagnostic analysis, local needs, and oral disease prevention and health promotion approach. The first phase of the course consisted of training for 22 State of Paraná Regional Oral Health Managers, followed by the next phases for Municipal Oral Health Coordinators and Oral health teams. After concluding each phase, regional and municipal coordinators worked as facilitators to their teams. The training process modeling was built using System Dynamics software (Vensim DSS 6.3). The parameters used were: the number of participants in each phase and the knowledge and experience acquired during the Oral Health Management Training Course and thereafter.
Results: It was observed an increase of professional empowerment considering the studied subjects and experience exchange when attending to the course and this was potentiated when it was repeated along time.
Conclusions:

In conclusion, oral health teams and managers permanent training contributed markedly to the empowerment of professional, leading to a better oral health and quality of life of Brazilian population.
