Method: Epidemiological, crossed, observational-correlational study. By probability sampling layered procedures were selected 7 (seven) Initial education centers, national, in 5 (five) parishes of Cañada de Urdaneta Municipality in Zulia State-2012. A total of 338 mothers and/or child takers between 24 and 71 months of age were interviewed to answer an organized questionnaire related to professional care: Child age of the first visit at the dentist , kind of motivation to take the child to the dentist , guidance on oral care , presence of dental cavities treated in the carer, need for treatment of dental decays in the carer , presence of cavities in other family members, availability of treating dentist. Tooth decay in children was recorded using the International System of Detection and Valuation of Teeth Cavity modified for epidemiological studies.
Result: : Statistically significant differences in caries prevalence were detected, the reason that carers take the child to the dentist and need of treatment for cavities in the carer.
Conclusion: This study showed an association between behavior toward professional care and early childhood decays.
