Manejo  de Pacientes  Con  Terapia de Bisfosfonato en  Especialidades Medicas

Introduction: Bisphosphonates are components that bind to calcium phosphate crystals and inhibit bone growth, aggregation and dissolution, therefore, inhibit ectopic calcification and bone resorption, Objectives: This paper aims to Know advantages and disadvantages of treatment with bisphosphonates, encourage different medical specialties the disadvantages of their use in the oral health of these patients. Materials and Methods: We distributed 100 surveys to various medical and dental specialties in public hospitals in the Caracas metropolitan area which includes knowledge of patients treated with bisphosphonates, which will discuss the use of bisphosphonates or not, the type of bisphosphonate used in their specialty with more frequency, route of delivery, alternative treatments, percentage of patients treated with bisphosphonates interconsultation performance, complications from use of these drugs and whether it was aware or not osteoquimionecrosis.; Results: indicated that generally used in bone disease and cancer in 55.55% of respondents, mostly being administered orally on 51.11% and 48.88% the intravenous route. The lack of knowledge about osteoquimionecrosis in 48.88% of respondents, the lack of alternative treatments and indifference interconsultations with dentists for the provision of Bisphosphonates, through which thoroughly and comprehensively assess the patient, providing better care to the management of side effects and complications Conclusions: any doctor to do a consultation with a dentist before, during and after bisphosphonate therapy, the specialties that use this type of therapy should be aware of the effects side in the oral cavity, and how to prevent osteonecrosis of the jaw as the most important.
