Dental Care Protocols

A protocol on a system of comprehensive care is an alternative to address the oral health disease most common in children and adult. The objective of this research was to develop and implement a dental care protocol to improve the quality of care of patients attending the mobile clinics, clinics attached to fixed Valencia Salud ( Saval c,a) . Municipality of Valencia. The protocol was designed according to the stage of development (pregnancy, infancy, preschool, school, adolescent, adult and older adult) according to the following indicators diet, oral hygiene habits, craniofacial growth, periodontal status, risk status caries, pulp health condition, care to trauma, needs minor surgery, drug therapy required. The protocol was implemented in (pilot center ) the health care centers Democracia, Puerto Nuevo and Santa Rosa and was evaluated according to performance or number of activities over a period of four months (June-September 2007), operational effectiveness (performance) and patient satisfaction. The protocol was modified for application in other health centers, which continued to reevaluate and adapt to the needs of each. Finally we conclude that the protocol is a tool that helped us to improve the effectiveness and performance of integrated management.
