Satisfaction Level in Patient Rehabilitated with Dental Prosthesis
Aim: The objetive of this study was to determine the relation between the satisfaction level of partially edentulous patients rehabilitated at the A.C. Centro de Bienestar Integral Las Acacias (April 2008- May 2009) and the type of personality, type of prosthesis installed and the patient's gender. Methodology: 98 patients were consulted, 53 women and 45 men aged between 31 and 78 years, who answered a questionnaire related to the aesthetics, the comfort and the degree of satisfaction with the prosthesis. The types of personality were evaluated by means of a personality test. Results: 48 persons had type A personality, 20 had type B and 30 had type AB. 30 patients with type A personality claimed to be slightly satisfied with the treatment, 10 were moderately satisfied and 8 were totally satisfied. Among type AB personality, 16 patients were totally satisfied, 11 moderately satisfied and 3 slightly satisfied.15 patients with type B personality, expressed to be totally satisfied and 5 moderately satisfied. There were 74 fixed prostheses realized in 47 patients; the 80% of them, were totally satisfied with the treatment received. There were installed 46 removable partial dentures in 35 patients, which 63% were totally satisfied. There were 33 total dental prostheses installed in 28 patients; 67% of them claimed to be totally satisfied. 64% of the women were totally satisfied and 29% moderately satisfied. 69% of the men were totally satisfied, whereas 31% moderately satisfied.Conclusions: The type of patient personality seems to influence their satisfaction level, since the lowest values were observed in the patients with type A personality. The cases rehabilitated with fixed prosthesis and the male patients seem to relate to a major satisfaction level.
