Exploring Dentistry Innovations: My Scientific Journey on LinkedIn
Objectives: The objective of this article was to share my scientific journey on LinkedIn, using a professional netwworking platform to engage the professional community around dentistry. Since July 29th, 2024, I have published over 60 posts covering a range of topics, including oral health, modern dental techniques, and my own experiences in the medical field. This initiative aims to create easy-to-read, evidence-based content and to foster discussions on current dental practices, making information accessible to a broad audience, and leverage LinkedIn's networking opportunities to deepen my understanding of innovations in dentistry. Methods: The platform used was LinkedIn, a professional networking website, with the fellowing tools: Hemingway editor for readability, AI (e.g., GPT-based tools), and Perplexity for content refinement and fact-checking. the content focused on posts covering oral health tips, dental techniques, patients' care, medical field experiences, and motivational insights. Results: Since July, 29th, 2024, the content output: included over 60 posts with topics ranging from dental health to professional reflections. A total of 76,088 impressions have been received, indicating widespread visibility and interest. Networking opportunities consisted of being engaged with other professionals, leading to networking opportunities and potential collaborations. Posts on oral hygiene, innovative treatments, and connections between oral and systemic health were amongst the most popular topics, generating higher engagements. Conclusions: This professional experience on LinkedIn, as a dental student, has highlighted the potential for using social media platforms to engage in scientific exchanges and discussions. The consistent sharing of evidence-based content has created opportunities for professional development and expanded my network. The journey has been both rewarding and enlightening, with plans to continue contributing to the conversation around modern dentistry.
