Contribution of Audiovisual Aids in the Practical Teaching of Fixed Prosthodontics : About a Cross Sectional Study

Objectives: University training in dentistry presents a real association of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The particularity of our discipline is that it is essentially based on dexterity. In addition to the ability to solve problems, practical training is of paramount importance.
Methods: Initially, we tried to identify the various difficulties encountered by the student in the practical sessions of fixed prosthodontics through a survey based on a questionnaire. Then, we tried to understand their opinions concerning the audiovisual support.
Results: The students affirmed that they need a digital teaching aid but they insisted on the importance of the demonstrations carried out by the teachers. We will then offer a demonstrative video as a complement to the teaching in fixed prosthodontics. This video will be attached to a practical manual for second-year dental students.
Conclusions: The current situation points to our need for a more dynamic and available learning model, anywhere and anytime. This currently represents not a luxury but a necessity.
