Objectives: assess and compare aspects of oral health knowledge ,attitudes and behaviours between preclinical and clinical dentals tudents in Tunisia
Methods: the english language version of HU-BDI was distributed to clinical and preclinical students from different levels.A quantitative estimate of oral health knowledge ,attitudes and behaviours was provided by the total of appropriate answers given to every statement by each group.Data were analysed statistically
Results: the allover median score of answers favouring good oral hygiene was mariginally higher in clinical than preclinical students and showed statistical significance.
Simirally, the analyses of each item individually displayed statistically significant differences between preclinical and clinical participants in 9 items of the survey
Conclusions: this study showed no effective differences in oral hygiene behavior between clinical and preclinical students in Tunisian dental students. This reveals a week effect of dental education on improving students'oral health habits in Tunisia and might demand the introduction of more courses emphasizing the importance of correct oral health behaviour of health care providers.
