Objectives: Determine the epidemiological aspects of ameloblastomas Precise the radioclinical manifestations of these lesions, and the value of an early diagnosis Establish the therapeutic and prognostic aspects of ameloblastoma Show the diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties of this pathology Focus on the role of the dentist in the care of such patients Methods: A retrospective study over 19 years from January 2002 to December 2020, involving 47 patients in the maxillofacial and aesthetic surgery department at Sahloul Sousse University Hospital. The registers of the maxillofacial and aesthetic surgery department as well as the patient's clinical observation sheets were the main source of information. Patient data were collected using an operating sheet designed specifically for the purpose of this study. These collected data were then processed and analyzed by Microsoft Office Excel 2007® software. Results: From an epidemiological point of view, this tumor mainly concerns young adults with an average age of 36 and a half years, there was a slight male predominance with a sex ratio of 1.44. The delay in consultation is one of the characteristics of our patients who present to the service within 1 to 5 years in 30% of cases. The main reason for consultation is mandibular swelling. Clinically, this is a single mandibular swelling, most often posteriorly located, the right side seems preferential with 65% of cases. The dental signs are pain and teeth mobility which can lead sometimes to teeth fall. conservative treatment was carried out for 32% of our patients while 68% underwent radical surgery: hemi-mandibulectomy and resection with its two partial and interrupting variants. Ameloblastomas are not uncommon in the maxillofacial and aesthetic surgery department of CHU Sahloul Sousse Conclusions: Ameloblastomas are not uncommon in the maxillofacial and aesthetic surgery department of CHU Sahloul Sousse. The role of the dentist in the management of this pathology is divided into three main parts, one is diagnostic, second is the surgery and the final part is postoperative. Ameloblastoma is characterized by its remarkable latency and clinical silence. Several dental signs have been described by patients including swelling, tooth mobility, unexplained dental pain and tooth displacement.
