Comparaison Between Inter-Appointment Medications Used in Regenerative Endodontic Therapy on Necrotic Immature Permanent Teeth: Systematic Review of the Litterature

Objectives:
Regenerative endodontic procedures permit root development, increased canal wall thickness and apical closure. This systematic review aims to compare the effictiveness of TAP, DAP, and CHP in root canal disinfection as inter-appointment medications in the procedure of revascularization of necrotic immature permanent teeth..
Methods: An electronic research was conducted on five databases. Outcomes of each article were extracted used standardized forms and analyzed. Risk of bias was assessed for each of the selected articles.
Results: Two RCT, six clinical trials, three prospective studies, two retrospective studies and one Cohort study were included. With at least treatment duration of two weeks, Better clinical success rate were obtained with TAP. Root lengthening, root walls thickening, and apical closure were judged better when used TAP or DAP with no statistically significant differences.
Pretreatment signs showed a better regression with TAP and CHP. Most of failed cases reported by authors who used TAP, but it is worth mentioning that their irrigation procedure lacked the EDTA.
Conclusions:
At first glance, TAP appears to be the most useful and efficient inter-appointment medication, considering its wide anti-bacterial spectrum and versatility. Additional translational studies and clinical trials evaluating the different features of REP in order to understand the many interrelated aspects that could result in better and more predictable outcomes.
