Infantile Eruptive Diseases: Orofacial Manifestations

Objectives: Oral enanthemes are often included with the clinical picture of some exanthematous diseases in children.
To describe the diagnostic approach and the treatment of some infantile eruptive diseases associated with orofacial manifestations.
Methods: Different cases of exanthemes in children were reported. Clinical picture included: multiple erythema, papules or papulovesicules sparse in the skin and /or mucosa. Non specific manifestations were also associated such as: fever, irritability, loss of appetite, cough or diarrhea.
A decision tree was established and intended to the Pedodontists and oral pathologists who may find difficulties when they face these lesions. Serologies were required to identify the causative agents.
Results: Clinical cases presented in this work were diagnosed as Rubella virus infection, Gianotti Crosti Syndrome, epidermic megalerythema, foot-hand-mouth syndrome and kawaski disease. Serologies were positive for suspected viruses such as: Rubella virus, Coxackie A virus, Parvovirus 19.
All these types of eruption healed with no complications. The treatment was often symptomatic. It was based on cleansing solutions, antihistamines and/or antipyretics. Young patients were monitored and isolated from sick persons or pregnant women.
Conclusions: Conclusions:
Knowledge of infantile eruptive diseases clinical tables is essential to allow early diagnosis of the causative pathology and faster treatment when complications are redoutable.A collaboration with pediatricians and/or dermatologist is mandatory.
