Multifocal inflammatory cysts of the jaw : Areport of two cases and review of the literature
Objectives: To undrestand the etiopathogenesis of the occurance of multiple inflammatory cysts in a same patient
Methods: A review of the literature was done on the database "MEDLINE",via its interface "pubmed" using the following keywords "radicular cyst", "inflammatory cyst", "periapical cyst","dentigerous cyst", "bilateral", "multiple", "jaw", "mandibule", "maxilar", "mandibular", "maxillary".
Also,we report two cases of multiple inflammatory cysts and describe the clinical and radiographic features leading to the diagnosis and the treatment of the lesion.
A result of 86 articles was found.after refining the results with the selection criteria ; only five articles have been included in this review.
Results: Five articles were selected in this review: three articles were a case report and two articles were a sytematic review.
Conclusions: This report highlights on the occurance of multiple radicular cysts, which is a rare of its entity. The radicular cyst has been catalogued as an outcome to pulpal necrosis succeeding caries,with a linked periapical inflammatory reaction.
The selected articles doesn't meet the aim of this review. So, more studies are needed in this field.
