Salivary and Blood Glucose on Diabetes Mellitus and Normal People

Objectives: to evaluate the difference of salivary glucose on  people with diabetes mellitus and normal people and also to analyze the relation of salivary glucose and blood glucose.

Methods: Data was obtained by examining 11 people that were diagnosed by diabetes mellitus type II and 11 normal people. Blood and salivary glucose level are measured by using sudden method. The measurement of salivary glucose level is similar to the measurement of blood glucose level.

Results:  Statistical analysis shows, there are significant differences of salivary and blood glucose among people with diabetes mellitus and normal people. The difference value of salivary glucose is 0,015 and the difference value of blood glucose is 0,007. There is a correlation between blood and salivary glucose value in diabetes melitus with the statistical result as 0,522 and there is no correlation between blood and salivary glucose value in normal people with statistical result as 0,038.

Conclusions: There are significant differences and correlations between blood glucose and salivary glucose among people with diabetes mellitus. The other conclusion is that,  there is significant difference between blood glucose and salivary glucose in normal people, but there is no correlation between blood and salivary glucose value.
