The female climacteric is attributed to physiological ovarian failure with consequent decrease in the secretions of estrogen. Reducing of estrogen level can cause oral discomfort, including the oral ulceration. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to correlate between oral discomforts to climacteric. The relationship between oral and climacteric status of the patients was also evaluated. Methods: A questionnaire was administered to fifty-one women being as group of the religious woman at Central of Jakarta .The questionnaire included information regarding menopausal state and oral symptoms. The subjects were divided into three groups; group 1 consisted of sixteen pre menopausal women, group 2 consisted of sixteen menopausal women and group 3 consisted of nineteen postmenopausal women. The estrogen level was measured by ELISA method. Contingency coefficient was used to determine correlation between oral ulceration and menopause state. Results: The result showed that there were no significant differences between oral ulceration and climacteric (0.36, p>0.05). Conclusions: Oral ulcerations were not associated with declining level of estrogen in female menopause. The onset of oral ulceration might have from other factors.
