Knowledge, Attitude and Prescription of Denture Adhesives of Dentists

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices of dentists regarding denture adhesives use.
Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire involving 376 dentists.
Results: Knowledge about the denture adhesives use was not good as expectations. Each dentist reached 54% of knowledge. The rate of dentists who had the right attitude was relatively high. The rate of denture adhesives use of dentist in clinical practice was relatively high (58%) but they only practiced correctly 60.3% of the work that a dentist needs to perform when they prescribe denture adhesives for patients.
Conclusions: :Despite denture adhesives being used frequently by the dentists, unfortunately they did not have sufficient knowledge regarding the material. Therefore, it is necessary to take denture adhesives into university curriculum to enhance dentist’s knowledge about this material.
