Faculty Members’ Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) and Dentistry Graduates’ Board Performance In A Selected Dental Institution

Objectives: This research sought to determine the faculty members’ organizational citizenship behaviors of faculty members and dentistry graduates’ board performance from selected dental institution.
Methods: The respondents of the study were 21 graduates and 22 faculty members of the college of dentistry in a selected dental institution. The relevant data were obtained by using researcher-made sets of questionnaires. The questionnaires were validated by three experts namely a Dean, a Psychometrician and a Senior Faculty prior to pilot testing. The pilot testing was done to establish the reliability of the researcher-made questionnaires. The questionnaire underwent reliability testing using Cronbach’s Alpha with the results of 0.78 for the graduates and 0.81 for the faculty members. Percentage, Weighted Mean and Chi-square were used as the statistical treatments.
Results: The results of the study revealed that the faculty demographic profile of age, length of professional service and length of service in the institution had a significant relationship in participating in OCB. Furthermore, the graduates were fully aware of the extramile, commitment, volunteerism, initiatives and contribution of the faculty members to their school life. It was also established that as the faculty level of OCB increase, the board performance of the dentistry graduates increased. Likewise, the results revealed that there was a significant relationship between the faculty members’ organizational citizenship behavior and dentistry graduates board performance in a selected dental institution.

Conclusions:
The researcher therefore conclude that there was a significant relationship between the faculty members’ profile and their level of OCB and the dentistry graduates’ board performance.
