The Efficiency of Bruxchecker in The Diagnosis of Sleep Bruxism

Objectives: To identify and compare the loss of red on BruxChecker between two groups: no sleep bruxism (No SB) and sleep bruxism (SB) and to assess the efficiency of BruxChecker in the diagnosis of sleep bruxism in volunteers at the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, Ho Chi Minh University of Medecine and Pharmacy Vietnam.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 participants from the Clinic of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. Information was gathered from volunteers wearing BruxChecker in 2 consecutive nights, then identified and compared between two groups and was classified into models based on the tooth grinding pattern.
Results: There are significant differences (p<0.001) in discoloured level of red on BruxChecker between 2 groups: no sleep bruxism and sleep bruxism. The result was that the overall rate of mediotrusive grinding is 80% in sleep bruxism group and only12.5% in no sleep bruxism group.
Conclusions: It is able to diagnose sleep bruxism using BruxChecker. Besides, BruxChecker is shown to be a useful tool in examining the grinding pattern during sleep bruxism.
