Modification of Periodontal Dressing with the Addition of Chitosan from White Shrimp Exoskeleton Waste (Litopenaus Vannamei) in Accelerating Wound Healing: Clinical and Histological review

Objectives: (1) To make modification of periodontal dressing with chitosan from the waste of white-shrimp exoskeleton(Litopenaeus vannamei)(2) To know the enhancement of Collagen in post-surgical wound of white rat (Rattus norvegicus).
Methods: This study was experimental laboratories, with the post test only control group design. The subjects of this study were 24 white rats that will be divided into experimental groups with the addition of chitosan and control without chitosan. Performed an incision on the back, then made preparations of tissue, Collagen observed with a microscope. This research uses friedman, kruskall wallis and mann whitney test.
Results: In observation of Collagen density scores, the experimental group experienced a significant enhancement (P = 0.030) compared with the control group P = 0.039 based on Friedman test. There was a significant difference between experimental group and control group on day 7 (P = 0,032) based on Mann Whitney test. On observation of wound length there was a significant differenxe P=0,00 based on Anova test.
Conclusions: Modification of periodontal dressing with the addition of chitosan from white shrimp exoskeleton waste (Litopenaus vannamei) can acceleratewound healing, ie by observing the collagen density score in post-surgical wounds of white rats (Rattus norvegicus).
