The Incidence of Pericoronitis in Third Molar: A Systematic Review

Objectives: to see the average incidence of molar tooth pericoronitis in young adult
Methods: Electronic search in Wiley, and Pubmed were performed to identify articles published in dental journals from December 2007 to December 2017 focusing on pericoronitis events on third molar teeth. Manual search of published full-text articles and related articles is done thereafter. There are 10 studies that explain this, but only 3 studies are compatible with the inclusion criteria
Results: The initial database search produced 140 article. All articles are selected for full text review. There were 5 studies selected to be included, with 1,012 patients as subjects. Average pericoronitis events in third molars, especially in adulthood. Where 18 years of vomiting perikoronitis 13.6% and a period of 23.3 years pericoronitis 31%
Conclusions: The time between 18-70 years for pericoronitis risk of 13.6% to 40%
