Eliminating Hyperplasia Gingiva with Gingivectomy Procedure, Laser or Conventional? : A Systematic Review

Objectives: To see which procedure has better results, gingivectomy with conventional and gingivectomy with laser therapy.
Methods: Electronic Pubmed and Wiley searchers were conducted to identify articles from 2008 – 2018 about conventional gingivectomy and gingivectomy with laser. After the selection of articles, 165 were obtained but only 3 articles were included.
Results: The initial database search produces 165 relevant titles. All articles were selected for full-text review. A total 3 articles were selected for inclusion. From 3 articles, one article using a laser, two articles use conventional and laser.
Conclusions: The inclusion articles showed that the healing process for the laser is better than conventional technique because the laser can reduce postsurgical pain and bleed, and also reduce the need for suturing.
