Osteogenic Ability of Combined Hydroxyapatite-Bovine Graft and Hyaluronic-Acid on Rats
Objectives: To examine the effect of addtion of Hyaluronic Acid 0,02% to Hydroxyapatite Bovine Tooth Graft as post-tooth extraction theraphy on number of osteoblasts and amount of Osteoprotegerin (OPG) in Wistar rats’ bone defect treatment. Methods: Animal study model, Rattus novergicus (n=20) divided into 3 group, K0: untreated control group; K1: socket filled with Hydroxyapatite bovine tooth graft; K2: socket filled with hydroxyapatite bovine tooth graft and hyaluronic acid, analyzed with ANOVA test Results: The K2 group had both the highest number of osteoblasts when compared with the control group ( ± ; P <0.001) and the strongest OPG. The differences in each group were tested by one way ANOVA test (α = 0,05). The numbers of osteoblasts in each group had a significant difference (p <0.05) Conclusions: Hydroxyapatite bovine tooth graft combined with Hyaluronic Acid significantly increase the quantity of osteoblasts and osteoprotegerin in the new bone formations. It a potential treatment for tissue engineering-based periodontal defect.
