Epidemiological Sampling Survey Analysis of Caries Among 5-Year-Old Children in Fujian Province, China.
Objectives: To understand the prevalence of caries among 5-year-old in Fujian Province,China. It is beneficial to the prevention and cure of caries in children. To provide relevant information for the prevention and treatment of caries in deciduous teeth.
Methods: According to the fourth national oral health survey programmer, this survey adopts multi-stage stratified equal-capacity random sampling method, Random sampling of resident population aged 5 years in Fujian Province, 54 boys and girls. And increase the sample size by 2% to prevent unpredictable factors such as waste volume. 432 people from the actual sample. Detection of crown caries of deciduous teeth with CPI probe, and the incidence of caries, the caries average, and the ratio of caries loss composition were also analyzed. The caries prevalence was compared with the survey data in 2005.
Results: The prevalence of caries among 5-year-old in Fujian Province, China was 78.7%, and the difference between urban and rural areas is not statistically significant（Χ2＝1.719，Ρ=0.232）.The filled rate was 5.32% and the difference between urban and rural areas is statistically significant（Χ2＝7.719，Ρ=0.04）.TThe mean of dfmt among 5-year-old was 5.47±5.15, and the difference between urban and rural areas is statistically significant（t＝3.027，Ρ=0.003）; There was no statistical difference between boys and girls about the prevalence, dmft and filled rate（Ρ〉0.05）. Compared with 2005(caries prevalence rate was 75.8%,with a mean dmft of 4.92, and filled rate of 0.34%), the incidence and average of caries increased slightly, and the filled rate has increased significantly.
Conclusions: The prevalence of caries among children in Fujian Province is serious. The incidence is on the rise. Most caries are not treated. Caries of children's deciduous teeth remain the focus of future prevention work.
