Cytotoxicity Test of Myrmecodia pendans 70% Ethanolic Extract
Objectives: to examine the cytotoxicity of Sarang semut extract. Methods: experimental laboratorium in vitro using fibroblast like-cell and calculate the mean of dead cells in different extract concentration. The cell culture was divided into two groups. The first group as negative control and the second as treatment group with Sarang semut extract. Ethanol 70% extract of sarang semut (Myrmecodia pendans) used were (1.56; 3.125; 6.25; 12.5; 25; 50; 100; 250; 500; dan 1000µg/ml). The inhibition test was conducted using MTT assay. Results: Myrmecoda pendans extract from 1.56 ppm to 1000 ppm with range percent inhibition from -124.12% to 14.47%. The negative percent inhibition of concentration 25% (250ppm) to 100% (1.000 ppm) which was from -16.88% to -124.12%. Conclusions: Myrmecoda pendans extract from 1.56 ppm to 1000 ppm does not have cytotoxic effect and indicates the potency of extract in cell proliferation from concentration of 25% (250ppm) to 100% (1.000 ppm).
