Effect Of I-Mc Namara Line Distance Change To Lips Convexcity On Class II Division 1 Malocclusion Treated By Begg Appliance

Objectives: The treatment of class II division 1 maloccclusion with abnormally protusif facial convexcity was done by anterior teeth retraction. Lips as estetical key on the 1/3 lower face part should be considered. Anterior teeth retraction will change incisors position distance to Mc Namara line. The aim of this studies was to evaluate the effect of I- Mc Namara Line distance changes to laterally lips morphology convectity on Class II division 1 treated by Begg Fixed Appliance.
Methods: The data were observed from 30 patients each with 2 lateral cephalograms(pre and post treatment) with criterias : Class II division 1 malocclusion, 4 first premolar extraction, having completely orthodontic treatment by Begg teqnique. The mesuarement of laterally lips morphology convecity by nasolabial angle, mento labial angle and H line angle was done on traced post and after treatment cephalogram. To observe the the differences I-McNamara Line distance, Naso labial Angle, mento labial angle, H line angle pre and post treatment was apllied. Correlation analysis was done to evaluate the correlation among I—Mc Namara line distance and Naso labial angle, mento labial angle and H Line angle.
Results: The distance changes of I -McNamara line after anterior retraction (treatment) were decreased (p<0.05) with the mean decreasing of the upper 4.5 + 2.4 mm and the lower 3.0 + 2.8 mm . Nasolabial angle and mento labial changes increased (p<0.05) with the mean 1.79 + 2.8 and 14.61 + 8.99 respectively, but H Line angle change decreased (p<0.05)with the mean 3.83 + 3.32 mm.
Conclusions: The Begg technic proved optimally correcting to sufficient soft tissue profil of laterally lips convexity in class II division 1 malocclusion
