This is a clinical observation based study. Cleft lip and palate cases were clinically studied to obtain statistical data from collection of cases coming to Riyadh Dental Center seeking treatment in a period of one year duration. This data were compared with cases obtained from Sudan as a second corner and international data obtained from the literature as a third corner. Eighty (80) cases were studied. Data such as sex, age, nationality, tribe, clinical examination, site lip or palate or combination, family history, and drug history during pregnancy were statistically studied. Data were statistically managed by SPSS program. Comparison tables and graphs were obtained. It was found that Saudi population has significantly high cleft lip and palate gene concentration giving high family history of cleft lip and palate of inherited pattern compared to the other two corners. Therefore further genetic screening study is highly recommended and pre-marriage screening may be necessary in some parts.
