EFFICACY OF THE GEL, CARICA PAPAYA AREQUIPENSIS, IN THE SOFTENING AND REMOVAL OF THE DENTAL DECAY IN CHILDREN, UCSM, AREQUIPA 2006-2007
A experimental study with two products: elaborated: gel 1- papaín with hidro-alcoholic extract of Carica papaya arequipensis at 10% (elaborated gel) and 2- papacarie gel, made up of the papain at the 2%, chloramine and toluidina blue (control gel) was evaluate, in order to compare their action on the softening and removal of dental decay in children’s teeth. Three phases of investigation were considered: the first phase consisted in the preparation of the elaborated gel with tests in the stabilization and storage laboratory. The second phase was an in vitro study in 23 teeth recently extracted and the last phase an in vivo study. At the obtained results the softening of the dental decay were similar in both groups, but the removal of the dental decay was higher and statistically significant (p<0.05) than in the experimental group, the consistency of the dental cavity after the remove of the dental decay was higher too and statistically significant Ji2 4.33 > 3.84 (p<0.05). The third phase was in vivo at Dentistry Clinic of the UCSM. The children teeth were designated at random in experimental group (Nº 30) and control group (Nº 30). The obtained results demonstrate that the softening was higher and statistically significant Ji2 12.0 > 3.84 (p<0.05), both results was obtain in the experimental group that use the elaborated gel than the control group. The difference it’s observed in the consistency of the dental cavity after the removal of the dental decay. The experimental group is higher and statistically significant Ji2 7.6 > 3.84 (p<0.05), in comparative with the control group.
