Ultrasound-guided Intralesional Injection of Pingyangmycin on Venous Malformation

[Abstract] Objectives: To evaluate the effect of ultrasound-guided intralesional injection of Pingyangmycin on treatment of venous malformation in cervical-facial region. Methods: Seventy-five patients suffering from venous malformation, including 54 patients in the facial region, 8 patients in the submental region, 10 patients in the submandible region, and 3 patients in the cervical region, were treated by ultrasound-guided intralesional injection of Pingyangmycin. The size of the lesions ranged from 6mm×9mm to 32mm×39mm. The clinical outcomes and complications were recorded and evaluated. Results: The duration of follow-up ranged from 6 to 24 months. The average times of treatment were 1.64 times. Among them, 42 patients received only one time of treatment, 21 patients received two times, 9 patients received three times, and 3 patients received four times. The results were evaluated according to criteria of therapeutically effect. The results were excellent in 63 patients (84%), good in 10 patients (13.33%), and improved in 2 patients (2.67%). The successful rate was 97.33%. 71 patients (94.67%) had local swelling in injection region for several days and 2 patients (2.67%) developed temporary dizziness after treatment. There were no other complications recorded. Conclusions: Intralesional injection of Pingyangmycin has a good effect on venous malformation in the cervical-facial region under ultrasound guidance.
