A Raman investigation of zirconia surfaces modified by different primers

Objectives:The purpose is to further study the effect of different ceramic primers on the surface between resin-cement and zirconia by Raman spectrograph.

Methods: 4 speicmen were made of YPSZ. Divided into 4 group by the different primers include: Porcelain Liner M, V Primer, AZ Primer, Metal/zirconia Primer.Using the Raman spectrograph to detect the zirconia surface after 4 different ceramic primers, compared to the control that zirconia surface with no pre-treat.

Results: Only Porcelain liner M group had the change of spectrogram of Raman spectroscope comparing to the control.

Conclusion: MMA could be detected on the zirconia surface after treatment of Porcelain Liner M. The variation couldn't be found on the ceramic surface after the other 3 primers pre-treatment by Raman spectroscope.
