Using double scanning method for CAD/CAM all-ceramic restorations

Objectives: The methods of double scanning for producing zirconia core by CAD/CAM (Computer aided design and computer aided manufacture) were introduced and clinical effects of this restorations using these methods were observed in this study. Materials and Methods: There were 20 zirconia all ceramic restorations by Everest or Procera, 16 crowns and 4 3-unit bridges, were evaluated, including: marginal fit, aesthetics, gingival health, retention and fracture. Results: The average observation time was 12 months, 18 months for the longest and 6 for the shortest. The results of clinic evaluation were quite well in 18 restorations, except for 2 Procera crowns with porcelain chipping and delamination. Conclusions: The double scanning method is useful to produce zirconia copping by CAD/CAM, and enlarge the application of all-ceramic restoration.
