Absorption of Statherin-like peptide to hydroxyapatite using Spectrophotometer.

Summary: Statherin tends to inhibits primary and secondary precipitation of hydroxyapatite (HAp). The N- terminal of Statherin helps in its adsorption onto tooth surfaces. A peptide (StN21) was formulated having 21 amino acid sequences identical to the N-terminus of statherin. STN 21 is functionally and chemically similar to Statherin in functions. The objective was to construct a protocol for detection of absorption between hydroxyapatite and STN 21 surface and studying it under the spectrophotometer and to detect separation in binding between Hydroxyapatite and STN 21. Method: Hydroxyapatite in different forms was used to detect the binding with StN-21 using Spectrophotometer.
Results: STN 21 creates a strong bond with hydroxyapatite.
