CASE BASED LEARNING – A Self Motivated Learning Strategy for Orthodontics

Summary: With the rising importance of Medical Education in Curriculum development of institutes, there is an increased emphasis on identifying the problems in conventional teaching methods, along with efforts to recognize and adopt, various more innovative and interactive, teaching strategies. While teaching under- grads, one objective should be to develop their interest in the subject, which at times, the conventional methods fail to acheive. CBLs are not a new strategy in medical education but as the subject has recently developed footing in our country, we can take it as a contemporary and a definitely more innovative strategy to accomplish the desired results. I would want the audience to recognize the importance of changing our teaching strategies for achieving better outcomes, and appreciate what difference such methods make in pedagogical learning.
