Antibiotic Prescription-Dental Education focusing Public Health Perspective
Introduction: Antibiotics are consumed in everyday life. Appropriate and minimal use of antibiotics is recommended in order to preserve them for later utilization and reduce drug resistance. The aim of this study is to look at the prescriptions practices of Antibiotics in Dentistry focusing antimicrobial resistance as a public health problem.
Materials and Methods: A Cross-sectional study was conducted with convenient sampling technique. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Data of 400 participants from both genders were analysed on SPSS and different statistical test were applied where needed. Results: Mean positive attitude score was found to be 23.6 (+2.5) out of a maximum score of 30. The perceived risk associated with antibiotics is not recognized by many students (n=36, 9%) along with its clinical scenarios (n=98, 24.5%). When strong knowledge of antibiotics have not effect on their career (n=38, 9.5%). Therefore, there were many who believe that no further new educational information is needed for antimicrobial resistance (n=45, 11.3%).
