Veneers: An optimum treatment option to treat tetracycline stains and spacing: A case report

Objectives: To present a case of tetracycline stains and spacing in an adult female patient that was managed by using porcelain veneers.
Methods: A case will be presented with tetracycline stains in both the maxillary and mandibular teeth since birth. With the passage of time slight spacing appeared in mandibular anterior teeth. The patient had already undergone two sessions of in-office tooth whitening but in vain. After doing the smile analysis of the patient it was decided to place veneers on both maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth
Results: Optimum esthetics and space closure was achieved after placement of 12 veneers on all maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth
Conclusions: Veneers have the potential for correction of discolouration and space closure in both maxillary and mandibular anterior region with minimum loss of tooth structure during preparation. Dentists should be properly trained regarding armamentarium, techniques, steps of preparation and final cementation of veneers. Veneers have known acceptability to the patients because of their esthetics. Patients should be given appropriate post treatment precautions to avoid complications such as marginal discolouration, dislodgement and fractures of veneers.
