The effect of cryotherapy on reactive oral lesion

Introduction: Cryogenesis is product technology and use of very low temperatures and cryotherapy is a treatment method in which the tissue undergoes inflammation and/or causes demolition responses and finally necrosis of the area through fast freezing. This technique has more advantages like quickness, simplicity, lack of breeding and scar compared to surgery. Base of cryotherapy, taking heat of biologic system by cryogen object, These objects obtain: Nitrogen oxide(-89.5c) and liquid nitrogen(-196c).

Purpose: The effect of cryotherapy on Papilloma and Fibroma Materials and methods: In this study two patient who had reactive oral lesion were selected. First patient was a woman 50years old and she had Papilloma lesion in hard plate near the maxillary molars. Size of lesion(3* 2mm). 2end patient was a woman 65 years old and she had Fibroma lesion in mid of lower lip. Size of lesion(1* 2mm). In order to have a pain free operation ,lidocain was sprayed .Depend on the size of lesion proper probe was selected and the lesion area was frozen with nitrogen for 20-30 seconds .Due to treatment method , a white line caused by necrosis of mucosa ,appeared around the probe.

Results: After one week both of lesions were cured.

Conclusion: Oral cavity is an ideal environment for cryotherapy and if can be used effective method for treating oral lesions.
