Anisocoria Affecting Choice of Technique during Bite Registration
OBJECTIVE: Bite registration is the third clinical stage in the management of complete edentulous cases. The alignment of the pupils is used to check the plane of the anterior occlusal rim, which should be parallel to the interpupillary line (imaginary). The objective of this report is to present a case where the pupils of the patient are not on the same plane and so could not be used as a guide in determining one anterior bite plane during bite registration. METHOD: To demonstrate a method used in getting a parallel bite plane in the anterior occlusal rim using a line bisecting the face. RESULT: A satisfactory complete denture was made and inserted. CONCLUSION: Treatment procedures that involve co-relation with other anatomical parts of the body should not be absolute as defects/malposition of such anatomical parts can affect management of such patients.
