Uncommon Presentation of Mid-Line Fracture in a Complete Denture Patient

OBJECTIVE: To present an uncommon cause of midline fracture in a lower mandibular jaw.

METHOD:To demonstrate the conservative management of such case in a 79 year old patient unwilling to undergo surgery.

RESULT: A metal base complete denture was fabricated and fitted satisfactorily.

CONCLUSION: Prosthodontist should be aware of changes in the residual alveolar ridge that may lead to fracture of complete dentures.
