Quantitative and qualitative spectrophotometric analysis of dental composites fluorescence.
The aim of this study was to analyze quantitatively and qualitatively the fluorescence emited by tooth and the association of different composites using spectrophotometry . Microhybrid composite discs A2 (10x2mm) Masterfill (MF), Suprafill (SF), Glacier(GC), HerculiteXRV (HR), Fillmagic (FM), Charisma(CH), Z250 and TPH were made with microparticle composite top layer of of Durafill (D) and Heliofill(H). Samples of composites Filtek Supreme (SP) and Concept (CO), that don`t need any covering, were made as well. The samples were photoactivated (40s/600mW/cm2), placed in a spectrophotometer (Fluorescence Spectrophotometer Hitachi) and radiated by UV 368nm. The bucal surface of upper central incisor tooth was also analyzed (n=3). The fluorescence was calculated by the integrated of the spectral curve of each analysis (n=3). The results (x105) were analyzed statistically whith the ANOVA and Tukey Test (a=0,05). Group D: SF=1,68±0,07; GC=2,20(±0,11); MF=1,68(±0,03); CH=0,67(±0,02); FM=1,33(±0,09); HR=1,55(±0,10); Z250=1,99(±0,05); TPH=1,82(±0,02).Grup H: SF=17,76(±0,57); GC=15,34(±0,27); MF=15,30(±0,20); CH=18,22(±0,50); FM=17,65(±0,74); HR=16,66(±0,35); Z250=17,02(±0,39); TPH=11,23(±0,26). The fluorescence of Heliofill was higher than Durafill (p=0,001), and the combinations with SF, FM and CH obtained the highest values (p<0,02) inside the group and close to the fluorescence emitted by the tooth 20,5 (±0,89). CO presented significantly superior values of fluorescence (p=0,002) than SP (14, 0 and 1,49, respectively). Significant differences in the fluorescence emitted by different types of composites were detected with or without a microparticulated top layer.
