Oral presentation of relapsing Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Objectives: We present a case of a 38 year old male patient who initially presented with an intraoral swelling, later diagnosed as replasing lymphoma. This report aims to highlight the importance of considering malignancies as a differential diagnosis when oral lesions are encountred in patients with history of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Methods: This is a case report with literature review of relapsing Non-Hodgkin lymphoma presenting intraorally as the initial site. Results: Based on the clinical presentation and imaging, the differential diagnosis included mucormycosis, relapsing DLBCL, dental abscess, antral carcinoma and fibrous dysplasia were considered. However, subsequent histopathological analysis showed proliferation of large individual cells with vesicular nuclei and multiple small nucleoli arranged in a diffuse pattern, confirming the diagnosis of DLBCL. Conclusions: Relapsing DLBCL might present as dentoalveolar swelling mimicking odontogenic infection, oral health care profssionals should consider relapsing DLBCL in the differential diagnosis of dentoalveolar swelling especially in patients with previous history of lymphoma.
