Munchausen Syndrome Unmasked: Diagnosis through Factitious Oral Ulcer

Objectives: 1- To describe the challenges in the diagnosis of factitious disorder imposed on self FDIS "Munchausen syndrome" in a female patient with a puzziling medical history who presented with teeth ache and oral ulcers.
2- To highlight the dentist role in observation, documentation and management of a patient who is suspected to be have FDIS.
Methods: This is a case report of a female patient who presented with teeth pain and oral ulcer and found to have Munchausen syndrome
Results: Patient was diagnosed with Munchausen syndrome
Conclusions: While dentists may not typically encounter Munchausen syndrome cases as frequently as medical professionals, they can still contribute to the diagnostic process and the management. Diagnosing Munchausen syndrome can be challenging as individuals with the disorder often present with complex and puzzling medical histories and symptoms.
