Objectives: To explore the preference for traditional vs digital dental implant techniques among Jordanian dentists, dental technologists and patients.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey and clinical study were both employed. The survey was distributed to 10 dentists, 11 dental technologists and 10 patients who were all based in Amman, Jordan. It assessed their preference and opinions on traditional and digital dental implant procedures in terms of implant success rate, cost, patient satisfaction, surgery time, and placement location. Additionally, two clinical cases of dental implant were investigated. One using traditional techniques and the other using digital techniques.
Results: The survey study revealed that most patients preferred digital dental implant procedures due to their higher success rate and less chair time. Dentists and technologists also preferred digital procedures due to their efficiency and accuracy. The digital workflow was found to be more efficient, reducing the time required for the procedure and improving patient satisfaction. The cases revealed that the digital technique resulted in a more accurate implant placement and reduced the need for corrective procedures.
Conclusions: Digital implant techniques have the potential to be more accurate and less complex than conventional techniques, requiring less rehabilitation time and a shorter procedure time. Digital technology for creating dental implants is likely to increase in the future due to its accuracy and precision, which can lead to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction.
