Evaluation Of Blending Capacity Of Unishade Composite To Natural Teeth.

Objectives: To investigate the shade matching of Omnichroma composite to the surrounding natural tooth using visual and instrumental techniques.
Methods: Sixty extracted teeth were disinfected then stored in distilled water at freezing temperature. The teeth were divided into two groups of 30 teeth, standardized class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surface (4 mm width, 2 mm depth) and restored with two types of composite resins, single shade composite Omnichroma and multi-shade composite Estelite Sigma quick . All teeth were evaluated instrumentally using a (Vita Easyshade and calculation of color difference (Delta Eab and Delta E00) between the tooth and the restoration was performed. Additionally, a visual assessment was conducted by six calibrated observers (3 specialists and 3 post graduate students) . The color difference between the tooth and restoration was graded following a defined Likert scale from 0 to 4 (0: exact match; 1: very good match; 2: not so good matching; 3: obvious mismatch, 4: huge,. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS.Mann–Whitney U test was used to compare median scores between the different groups. The significance level was stated as P < 0.05.
Results: Significant differences in values between MS and OMN were noted in all color coordinates △L, △a, △b. The △Eab for the OMN group was significantly higher (14.37) compared to (10.04) with a P value of 0.023 recorded for the MS group.
Analysis of the overall color difference (△E00) revealed that the control group MS had a color difference △E00= 7.85 while the experimental group OMN had a color difference △E00= 9.85 with no significant difference between both groups. Regarding the visual findings, the overall reading for color matching of MS group was 0.5 compared to 0.92 for OMN group which was significantly higher with a P value of 0.01. Nevertheless, both values were located within the 0-1 category.
Conclusions: it can be concluded that the supra nano resin composite Omnichroma showed higher color difference value compared to multi shade composite when tested on natural teeth. Nevertheless, the visual results for both composites are considered within the clinical acceptable levels.
