Analysis of the Attendance in Children, Public and Private Sector

Objectives: To evaluate the modifications of the type of common attendance based on the provider and the additional attendance between 1998 and 2005. Methods: In Euskadi, the 7-15 years old population has a common program of children dental attendance. In 1998: 100.811 children went to the program and in 2005: 93.462. The supplied treatments (exodontias, pulp treatments, fillings and sealants) based on the type of public or private providers are evaluated. And the changes in the additional treatment (traumatisms, fillings IMD, reconstructions, apicoformations, endodontias, crowns and space maintainers) Results: In 0/00; public sector 1998: exodontias 11,43; 2005:11,97. 1998 pulp treat.10,15; 2005:8,1. 1998 fillings 36,71; 2005:32,64. 1998 sealants 11,0; 2005:9,1. Private sector 1998 exodontias 7,6; 2005:3,5. 1998 pulp treat. 6,77; 2005:3,68. 1998 sealants 6,1; 2005:4,2. In additional treatments 1998 fillings IMD 16,06; 2005:10,79. 1998 reconstructions 15,69; 2005:17,45. 1998 apicoformations 1,47; 2005:0,80. 1998 endodontias 3,04; 2005:2,48. 1998 crowns 0,35; 2005:0,76. 1998 space maintainers 0,19; 2005:0,14. 1998 traumatisms 25,0; 2005:22,31.The greater advance of rates in children without tooth decay occurred in children of 12 and 14 years old, even though in this last group the rate tends to become stabilized. Conclusion: In the private sector reductions in the rates of exodontias, pulp treat., fillings and sealants are observed, whereas in the public sector no great changes have been observed. Perhaps that is associated with the kind of population attended (emigrants). Reductions in additional treatments are observed, with the exception of reconstructions and crowns.
