Objectives: The treatment of root canals with files and irrigants does not always lead to sterility in the foramen apicale area. The Cu-Ca hydroxide is said to sterilize the apicale delta zone as the closing of foramen apicale is done through ossification, stimulated through Cu traces.
The aim of this study is to analyze the results of the depotphorese endodontic treatment of infected root canals.
Methods: Patients with necrotic pulp in a total of 24 root canals (16 teeth) have been selected.
Single electric frequence varies between 0, 7 1, 5 mA; each root canal must received 15 mA in 2 or 3 appointments. A (CaOH)2 pad is placed inbetween visits. After the third treatment the tooth is filled with Atacamit filling paste. X-ray photos are made initially and after the second month. The control group consists of patients treated with conventional methods (24 root canals). Data are processed with SPSS 15. 0. 1 statistical packet.
Results: Assessment of results is based on the lack of complaints by patients, the lack of exufe in root canals and X-ray data. The lack of pain at percussion in the apex shows that the treatment is successful. In case there is some translucency, it is reduced. The treatment of 23 experimental root canals and 21 control canals has been successful.
Conclusions: There are only minor differences between the experimental and control group.
