Methods: A total of 14 subjects were treated by applying the RemeDent bleaching gel containing 35% of hydrogen peroxide for 40 minutes. The product was placed on labial surfaces of the front teeth and reactivated three times during the session by removing and placing a new layer. Tooth color shade was evaluated before starting bleaching, directly after session and after 7 days for treatment day by the use of the Easy Shade spectrophotometer (VITA GmBH). Analysis of the data collected from the maxillary central incisors and canines was performed to assess changes in tooth color. Whitening efficacy was determined by evaluating color changes from baseline in tooth yellowness (delta b*) and tooth brightness (delta L*).
Results: The evaluation of the results showed a increase of yellowness one week after the bleaching procedure giving a mean delta b* value of 0,7. Analysis of measurements revealed also an increase in mean brightness of 1,53 (p<0,05) for subjects treated with RemeWhite.
Conclusions: The study showed increase of brightness of the bleached teeth, but the assessment of the level of yellowness required the further investigation with larger group of patients.
