Is Squamous cell carcinoma preventable?

Abstract: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is one of the most prevalent oral cancers, which account for about 90% of all .Having just 60% 5-year survival rate, is one of the health concerns all around the world. Population aging and increasing smoking and drinking alcoholic beverage, encounter the world t more cases of SCC. Surgery, radiation or both of them are the accepted treatment plans while each has its own complication, so prevention seems to be more valuable and can save patients’ lives and increase their quality of life. Preventive methods are more notable in patients with premalignant lesions who are more susceptible to encounter SCC. There are studies on preventive methods of SCC applying herbal and natural based medications and medications, which are commonly used to treat other medical problems. In this lecture, I am to talk about these remedies in order to open a window to the prevention world, which can be a desirable view for future of oral medicine in respect of oral SCC.
