CBCT images: An important tool in the analysis of maxillary anatomical variations related to maxillary wisdom teeth

In addition to arteries and nerves, the maxilla has a maxillary sinus that is closely related to the roots of maxillary teeth especially the posterior teeth. CBCT images play an important role in showing anatomic variations surrounding impacted wisdom tooth such as follicular spaces, presence of gubernaculum dentis (GD), anatomic variations of canal and foramen greater palatine, etc. on the other hand, pathological condition of maxillary sinus can affect treatment plan. The aim of this lecture, reviewing of anatomical variations of maxilla and factors that can influence diagnostically on wisdom maxillary teeth.
