Preparation and evaluation of surface modifie Nylon 6 by nano silica addition as a reinforced phase for dental resin composites

In order to replace the missing teeth via efficient and cost effective way, FiberReinforced Composites (FRC) can be alternative to conventional Porcelain Fused Metal (PFM) bridges In this study, Nylon fibers have been synthetises with Electrospinning, so, it is possible to produce improved- Nonwoven fiber. In this study, solution of Nylon 6 made of Nylon 6 and acetic acid and formic acid with different concentration were made and nanofibre were prepared by using electrospinning machine for increasing the surface area for improving the bond between Nylon 6 fibers and matrix resin of FRC, Nano silica particles has covered the fibers. The pictures were studied for consistency, diameter, homogeneity and silica particles' distance on the fibers. Fibers made from 12wt% Nylon 6, were randomly placed on surface .With reduction of concentration of the solution to 10wt% and 8wt% Nylon 6, the number of the beads plunges and the shape of them changes to spindle. Fine and homogenous fibers of Nylon6 were yield with concentration of bwt% Nylon 6.. Changing the concentration to 12wt% Nylon 6 and 20wt% Silica results in a very viscous solution that could not form jets, and 12wt% Nylon 6 with 15wt% silica will make very tiny fibers with big callus of Silica. The pictures seen via SEM and AFM and random measurement of the distance between particles on the fibers illustrates that Silica particles have been distributed almost evenly on fibers made from 6.7wt% Silica and 20wt% Nylon 6.. Increase of silica concentration increases the surface area and viscosity , and cause faster vaporization and failure of Taylor cone formation. fibers made form 20wt% Nylon 6 and 6.7 wt% Silica seems to be an ideal choice for application on FRC system as reinforced phase of resin
