Young Adult Couples' Awareness toward HPV-related Oral Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study
The incidence of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)-related oral cancer has recently increased worldwide. The aim of the current study was to assess the awareness of young adults about HPV related oral cancer. This was a cross-sectional study among 828 participants aged 15 -35 years in Zanjan, Iran in 2018 referring to public health center for pre marriage consultation. Data were collected by a self- administered questionnaire containing two demographics and awareness parts, (10 questions). Binary logistic regression was applied for statistical analysis. The mean age was 24.22(SD: 5.44) years with equal proportion of gender. Among participants 52.4% of participants knew about the possibility of disease transmission to mouth. The majority (94.8%) didn't know about HPV and its oral cancer related to sexual behaviors. Most of them also didn't know about HPV symptoms and its oral cancerrelated symptoms (96.8%).
