Effect of different resins and nanofillers on discoloration around orthodontic bracket
To determine the influence of the type of orthodontic adhesive such as hydrophobic and hydrophilic resins and nanofiller on the stain susceptibility around orthodontic bracket Metal brackets were bonded to extracted human premolars (n =125) byusing four types of adhesives including hydrophilic,hydrophobic resins and nanofiller(ox50),microfiller(glass).15 samples of every group selected randomly for tooth color assessment with specrophotometery. Tooth colors were measured with a spectrophotometer at baseline, after adhesive removal, and after polishing followed by 1 week immersion in coffee-tea solution.Statistical evaluation was made using the ONE WAY ANOVA test All specimens showed discoloration at varying levels. The highest color change was observed in the hydrophilic resin and microfiller group and least color change was observed in hydrophilic nanofiller group. adhesives which containing nanofiller have less discoloration around brackets
