Caries risk assessment in 7 years old children of Tehran

Aim: caries prediction has an important role in preventive
dentistry. This article is aimed to clarify carries risk assessment in a group of 7 year
olds in Tehran. Risk assessment of dental caries is one the most important stages in
preventive program planning. The object of this study was the risk assessment
of dental caries in 7 years old children of Tehran city.
Material and methods: A total of 218, 7years old of primary school children of
Tehran via a simple random sampling were selected .needed information was obtained
from aquestionnaire, bitewing radiographs and dental examination was obtained.
Information was analyzed by spss
software. .
Results: from 218 children, 34 person (15.9%) were in high risk group, 63
person (28.9%)in low risk group
and 121 person(55.5%) were in moderate risk .
Conclusion: 15.6% of 7 years old children in Tehran city are high risk for
dental caries. Especial dental care must be done for these children.
